Today I am reviewing the Maggie Magnetic Locator by Schonstedt. The Maggie is one of Schonstedt’s latest magnetic locators, so it is packed with the latest and greatest technology. The Maggie is designed to detect magnetic fields of all ferromagnetic objects like property markers, manholes, valve boxes, well casings, steel drums, cast iron pipes, and more. To put it simply, the Schonstedt Maggie can find and locate almost anything underground that is contains iron. The Maggie is great for surveying, construction & excavation, contract locating, facilities management, public works, residential & commercial, utilities, water & sewer, electrical, and transportation industries.

Schonstedt combined their two flagship magnetic locators, the GA-52Cx and the GA-92XT in order to create the Maggie. The GA-52Cx is known for its precision and sensitivity, while the GA-92XT is known for its ergonomic gun-style design. The Schonstedt Maggie Locator has both of these great features, making it highly sensitive as well as comfortable to use. The Maggie also features audible and visual cues to communicate polarity, signal strength, gain level, and battery level to the user of the device. The battery is very easy to change, as it is located in the handle of the device. The Schonstedt Maggie Magnetic Locator also includes a soft carrying case with sling, and a 7-warranty.

Using the Schonstedt Maggie is very straightforward. Simply power the unit on, adjust your sensitivity and volume levels, and walk with it while moving it in a sweeping motion across the ground. The user must then listen for the audible cues coming from the Maggie Locator. Once an audible tone is constant, the user can examine the bargraph if he/she wants more specific information regarding the signal strength.
