The AEMC 3731 Clamp-On Ground Resistance Tester has been discontinued.

Today we’re going to take a look at the AEMC 3731 Clamp-On Ground Resistance Tester. To be honest, I tend to think that electricity is a kind of magic. The best way I’ve found to understand it is to make comparisons to the flow of water and the various aids and impediments to said flow. Water, being a much more tactile phenomenon is easier for the more lay folks like myself. This analogy leaves out some of the unique and complex features of electricity but it works as a guide.

When it comes to testing equipment it can be easy to get lost in the latest and greatest technology. For ground resistance testing, sometimes less is more. The AEMC 3620-150 3-Point Ground Resistance Tester happens to be one of these testers. This ground resistance tester has a large analog display that shows direct readings from 0.5 to 1000 ohms. There is also a manual zero adjustment to increase the accuracy of your readings. Looking at the AEMC 3620 you can see there is very little to set up.

Portable Megohmmeters are not your everyday item, but when dealing with high voltages you want to err on the side of caution. The AEMC 6550 and AEMC 6555 Portable Megohmmeters test DC voltages up to 10,000 and 15,000 respectively. These units come built into a rugged IP54 rated case that can handle the rumble and tumble of the everyday real world environment you work in. Both units offer live measurement of voltage to be sure you are working under safe conditions.

The Testo 870-2 Thermal Imaging Camera hs been discontinued.

The “hot” (pun intended) new section of the thermal imaging marketplace is point-and-shoot entry-level cameras, and manufacturers are eager to offer cameras that have an excellent intersection of price and features. The new Testo 870-2 offers just this – high end features within a reasonable budget.

The Testo 870-1 Thermal Imaging Camera has been discontinued.

The new Testo 870-1 Thermal Imager is designed to provide competition to the entry level cameras of other manufacturers; and while it does do this, it also includes some features that set it apart from the entry level market.

Hello to all. This is my post on the final entry in Flir’s new point-and-shoot line – the Flir E8. I actually had an opportunity to spend some hands on time with this particular camera a couple weeks before launch and it is awesome. The MSX technology that was previously included only on the ultra-expensive FLIR models is now standard on all their cameras and it looks great. Now the Flir E8 has a resolution of 320x240 which certainly helps with how good the images look but the MSX feature is truly amazing.

Welcome back. The Flir E6 is next up on our list of new Flir cameras. As I’m sure you have guessed by now, the Flir E6 also features MSX technology, Flir’s awesome new invention that etches visible light details onto thermal images. Long story short, it looks awesome and makes for very detailed reporting.

Hello again. The next camera in Flir’s new line is the E5. As you might expect the E5 is similar to the E4 I detailed last time with some notable upgrades. As far as similarities, the Flir E5 also includes MSX technology, as all of FLIR’s new cameras do, which performs real-time etching of visible light details onto thermograms, producing stunning results (see image at right).
