The Fluke TiS40 Infrared Camera has been discontinued.

Hello, today I will be reviewing the Fluke TiS40 Infrared Camera. This camera has a detector resolution of 160 x 120 (19,200 pixels) and a spatial resolution of 3.9 mRad. The field of view for this series of cameras is 35.7° Horizontal x 26.8° Vertical. The Fluke TiS40 features a fixed focus lens with a minimum focus distance of roughly 18 in and a thermal sensitivity of 0.09 ℃.

Like previous models I have reviewed earlier the Fluke TiS40 also features wireless connectivity making it Fluke Connect compatible. Fluke Connect is Fluke’s own app that is designed to make your life easier by connecting your Thermal imager to your smart phone and computer. Fluke Connect allows you to upload thermal images, creates reports and save data to the app. Once on the app you can share images or reports with customers or other coworkers.

One feature that is nice to see is the ability to make a voice recording (up to 60 seconds per image) to explain what the image is showing and key things to look at. Anyone who has done enough inspection work will use this a lot as you can often forget every detail of an image. A Bluetooth headset is required to use this feature just to give you a heads up.

IR-Fusion is another feature that will get a lot of work on the Fluke TiS40 Infrared Camera. As any early adopter of thermal cameras can attest to, radiometric images do not always offer a clear image of the object(s) being analyzed. With IR-Fusion technology this problem is now fixed as the Fluke TiS40 takes both a radiometric image and a digital image that can be overlaid with different percentages of opacity to get a clear image for your reports

I would like to cover for a minute what kind of application this infrared camera would be great for. Building inspection is the first application that comes to mind for this camera. The resolution is more than enough for measurements of electrical panels, air conditioning ducts, and wall temperatures. The IR-Fusion really shines in these applications as the digital image helps show clients the specific areas that were photographed. Fluke Connect is also great as you can upload your images and make a professional report that can be given to your client.

If you are new to the infrared camera market or you are looking to upgrade your older camera, the Fluke TiS40 Infrared Camera is definitely worth looking into. Not every camera needs to be laden with tons of features to be a viable candidate as sometimes what you really need is a streamlined camera that takes crisp images with lots of data points.
