I am reviewing the UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus Kit Residential Combustion Analyzer with EOS Technology. The UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus Kit is designed to fine-tune and test combustion related devices such as furnaces and hot water heaters with ease, accuracy, and speed in residential environments.
As with all of the UEi products, the UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus has a very high quality feel to it. The superior build quality also equates to many useful features. First off, the C30 Smart Bell Plus can measure CO, CO2 and temperature in addition to calculations of O2, Excess Air, and Efficiency. Secondly, it features real time analysis of all measurements and calculations so the user can see changes in actual time. Third, the UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus has many pre-programmed fuel settings such as light oil, propane, natural gas, heavy oil, and wood. This can help ensure user-accuracy with even novice users. The most amazing feature of the UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus is definitely the sensor technology. UEi invented their own unique sensor technology called “Electro Optical Sensor” (ESO) technology. This innovative design steers away from traditional electrochemical sensors that degrade over time, are susceptible to overexposure, have to be replaced, and recalibrated every x amount of years.
The ESO technology used in the UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus instead uses infrared light to pass light through the gas chamber, calculates the amount of CO2 in the chamber, and then translates this into a percentage. No chemical reactions are used, so the lifespan of this sensor is far more impressive than standard electrochemical sensors. The ESO sensor has a 10-year life expectancy while the unit has a 5 year warranty. With ESO technology, the cost of ownership of the UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus is roughly half the cost of most traditional combustion analyzers.
The UEi C30 Smart Bell Plus Kit includes the unit, flue probe, protective boot with magnet, and a soft carrying case. The magnet on the protective boot adds some versatility to the unit, allowing it to be mounted on almost any metal surface.
