Flir E40, Flir E50, Flir E60 Review - The Thermal Imaging Cameras with MSX

Update:

The Flir E40bx, E50bx, and E60bx Infrared Cameras have been disontinued.

Those of you in the thermography field may already be familiar with the Flir E40, Flir E50, and Flir E60 and their wide assortment of useful and exciting features like Wi-Fi connection to the FLIR Tools Mobile App for reporting and monitoring, Bluetooth connection to Extech or FLIR METERLiNK test equipment, and interchangeable lenses. However, these FLIR E-series cameras now include MSX, or multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging.

Prior to this new product launch at the beginning of October, MSX was a feature only available in FLIR’s high end T-series cameras; and while this feature is still offered in the high-performance line, MSX technology is now available on all FLIR cameras, making this exciting development in technology affordable for technicians and businesses of all budgets and sizes. MSX uses an onboard digital camera to take the high contrast details out of the visible light spectrum and then overlays them on the thermal image onscreen and in the stored image. This allows you to read things like numbering on a breaker panel (see image) which would have been difficult even with traditional fusion technology.

See you next time.
