I am reviewing the CMEXpert II Concrete Moisture Meter from Tramex. The CMEXpert II’s primary operation is to detect and evaluate the moisture conditions within slab or screed via non-destructive means by using electrical impedance. The CMEXpert II can help prevent a plethora of problems such as adhesive degradation, delaminating floor coverings from the slab and within itself, condensation, blistering, movement, mold, and overall deterioration of the covering by making the user aware of any excess moisture.
The CMEXpert II (CMEX 2) has many features that help separate it from the rest. First, it measures up to 6.9% moisture content in concrete with a large, attractive blue backlit display. Secondly, it has a hold function to freeze the data on the display for when the face is not visible to the user. On top of its ability to measure moisture content in concrete, it is also able to measure moisture content in wood from 7% to 40% with the optional pin-type probe attachments. Finally, the CMEXpert II can attach to a reusable relative humidity Hygro-i probe for in situ or hood method testing of concrete per ASTM F2170 and BS 8201 and 8203. The optional Hygro-i probe measures ambient conditions of relative humidity, temperature, dew point, and grains per pound.
Using the CMEXpert II (CMEX 2) to measure concrete moisture content is very simple. Simply power the unit on, press it firmly down on the concrete surface, and read the moisture results. The testing is simple, accurate, and above all – fast. With the sheer speed of the testing, it allows the user to test multiple areas in a very short amount of time.
