Yellow Jacket eVac I and eVac II Digital Vacuum Gauge Review

Vacuum Gauges are very important tools that assist you during any HVAC job where you are evacuating a system. When you pull a vacuum on a system to completely “dry” a system and remove all contaminants it is important to know if everyone is working as intended. This is where the Yellow Jacket eVac I and eVac II Digital Vacuum Gauge earn their stripes. The eVac I is the bare bones variety of vacuum gauges but that does not mean it is junky. This gauge is more than adequate as it can read a range between 0 – 25,000 microns with a 1 micron resolution. The display is clear and the numbers easy to read. It has a selectable pressure reading that can be switched to microns, pascals, millibar, mmHg and millitorr. The Yellow Jacket eVac I can also be self-calibrated in the field without the need for special equipment. The unit also boasts a built in memory to retain previous settings as well as a warning if any oil compromises the sensor.

The Yellow Jacket eVac II Programmable Digital Vacuum Gauge is the big brother of the eVac I. The eVac II has all the same functions as the eVac I but has a few nice touches to separate them. The most obvious of these is that it is programmable. You can set the gauge to start a Hold Timer as soon as your targeted pressure is reached. Once the selected hold time has expired and it has successfully held that pressure, an alarm will sound. This feature saves you time from having to continuously monitor the gauge and can free you up to monitor other areas of the HVAC repair. The display has been improved and allows for 0.1 micron resolution as well as displaying the pump-down speed for evacuation and a vacuum leak rate during the programmed hold test. The last feature addition of the Yellow Jacket eVac II Programmable Digital Vacuum Gauge is it displays ambient temperature in either Celsius (C) or Fahrenheit (F).

Cheers and Happy Testing,

-Sam
